Large three-way loudspeaker system designed for professional recording studio applications. The system includes a JBL 2231A 15" woofer, JBL 2420 midrange compression driver with JBL 2312 exponential horn and JBL 2308 diffraction lens, and a JBL 2405 tweeter.

Crossover frequencies are 800 Hz and 8500 Hz. The passive crossover network is provisioned for optional bi-amplification. The system is rated at 75 Watts continuous sine wave and recommended amplifier power is 150 Watts.
The speaker system is available in a walnut veneer finish as model 4333AWX, or "Studio Grey" painted finish as model 4333A. The cabinet baffle has provisions for mirror image mounting of the high frequency driver. The rear of the cabinet has threaded holes for the installation of screw eyes to simplify suspended "flying" or ceiling mounting. The JBL 4331A is a similar two-way system which omits the ultra-high frequency driver.
