B&W 803D
$4,500.00
Released January, 2007
The Pros:Detailed mid-range sound quality.
The B&W 803D is a 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker from B&W's high end 800 Series that handles up to 500 watts of power. The speaker is designed with a curved cabinet that is narrower than most other 800 Series speakers and includes Matrix interlocking bracing for rigidness and stands on a heavy cast aluminum plinth.
Unlike the 800D, 801D, and 802D models, the speaker's 6" Kevlar cone FST midrange driver that is housed by itself and the 1" diamond dome tweeter is positioned on top of the unit. The 803D also has three 7" cone bass drivers with mushroom diaphragms and re-inforced by a front-firing Flowport. The speaker is available in real wood veneer finishes of Rosenut, Black Ash, or Cherrywood and comes with a black cloth grille. It retails for approximately $4500 each.
