This produces a stronger cabinet and also eliminates a sharp edge, which would cause sound diffraction from the sound driver. There is a 6.5" paper/Kevlar cone with mushroom design for bass as well as a 6.5" woven Kevlar cone for bass/midrange contained in the main speaker cabinet. Bass frequencies are handled by both of these speakers operating in parallel, with a front and rear firing flowport for bass reflex. These speakers are designed to be setup free from walls, but if they are placed near a wall, the unnatural increase in bass level can be offset by plugging the ports with the provided foam plugs. Sitting on top of the main cabinet is a free-mounted 1" alloy dome tweeter which is contained in a Nautilus tapering tube. This tweeter-on-top design eliminates reflections that may occur if the driver where placed in a conventional cabinet. The cabinet is avaialable in five real wood veneers: cherry, rosenut, maple, walnut and black ash; comes with a removable black cloth grill and is individudally for $1,200.
